Public Type of Puerto Vallarta

I don't know about anyone else, but the idea of a break (meaning where I completely forget about my school work) seems to be rendered an impossibility with so much typography constantly staring me in the face. But as I always say (not really), if you can't beat it - blog it.

Exhibit A: Oxxo

Although I never actually entered one of these gas / convenience stores, I felt the need to include the brand logo because it is literally on every street corner. Even Starbucks would be jealous.

As for the logo itself... not bad at all. Very clear, simple, and easily identifiable.

Exhibit B: Hilo

I thought it was interesting to see such an old style typeface for an exclusive nightclub where almost every other club or bar signage relied completely on thin, curvacious, modern typefaces.

Oh, and real 3D letterforms are always a treat as well.

Exhibit C: Handwritten Type

After seeing Helvetica 35 used about 35,000 different ways, the everyday handwritten type was as refreshing as the $4 bottled water at our hotel. Amazing excitement and personality.
